Race Management & New Rules : Names have been collected for various courses and submitted to the RYA NI. We hope to have a course on New Rules and Club Race Officer run in Whitehead. Some of the courses with fewer numbers may require the interested parties to travel to other Clubs running these courses.

More details on RYA NI site : (link on left hand panel)

Rambling Section :

Easter Monday a walk took place on Black Mountain.

Strangford Lough Nature walk on Saturday 21 February was an excellent event supported by approx 30 walkers. Photos can be found on Flickr

SAILING NEWS:

RYA National Sailing Scheme - Adult Course currently full. With additional names being taken a further course may be held in August. Please notify the Club of your interest.

RYA Powerboat L1&2 course may also be held if enough candidates are registered.. please advise.

The Sailing Committee met recently and have planned the sailing calendar for 2009. Yes !, even if there are delays in the building program, we still intend to sail.
Utilisation of both the Public Boat Park & Slip, plus the use of our own slip and Beach Road ( Tidy up completed).

Race Officers will manage the racing from the Promenade, the start & finish line can still be easily set in to accommodate this.
As various aspects of the work proceed, it is possible that we will be able to use the south side of the Clubhouse area, where the Topper rack was moved to and even the boat shed. Therefore this would enable us to make the use of the safety boat as per our normal procedures. The Committee will make that decision in the Spring and look to use Beach Road for storage too as we did receive a grant to purchase a new Safety boat.
